Celebrating 30 Years of Wishes
Presenting the 14th annual Wish Ball, Saturday, April 24, 2010

PHOENIX—The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona is celebrating the founding of the organization in the city where it began at the 2010 Wish Ball.

“Celebrating 30 Years of Wishes” is the theme of this year’s black-tie gala, which will be held on Saturday, April 24 at the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel.

The evening will bring together the founders of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, corporate partners including the Disney® Company and celebrity guests. Festivities include live and silent auctions, cocktails, a gourmet dinner, live entertainment and a presentation about the history of the foundation. Presenting media sponsor is KTVK-TV3. Good Morning Arizona anchors Tara Hitchcock, Scott Pasmore and Kaley O’Kelley will serve as the masters of ceremonies.

The chair and co-chair of the 2010 Wish Ball is Renee Roebuck and Event Services of America's Andrea Stewart. Frank and Kitty Shankwitz have been named as honorary co-chairs of the event.

Frank and Kitty Shankwitz, founders of the foundation, will be recognized at the gala for their remarkable work, their passion for children and their ongoing support.

After participating in granting the wish of a seven-year-old boy with leukemia, Frank had the idea to create a nonprofit organization that would grant the wishes for other children with life-threatening illnesses and the Make-A-Wish Foundation was born.

The goal of this year's Wish Ball is to raise $700,000 to fund more than 100 wishes for children like Chris. Tickets are $500 per person and include appetizers, cocktails, a gourmet dinner and entertainment. Table sponsorships are also available. All proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
